SUMMER!!  It's here!  Well, just around the corner.....Be sure to check out our classes at www.intoyoga.ca to see what we have lined up for you!

 

Did you know that being passive and letting gravity do much of the work will help you gain more flexibility?  That's one of the three Yoga secrets you'll find out today.  You'll also learn where diet plans usually go wrong and how to get the results you want like flat abs and firm thighs.  Our pose of the month will also aid in flexibility while helping you stay strong.

Our Baby Stuff isn't just for babies this month.  Everyone will want to learn where to buy or donate new and used belongings.  But, before (or after) doing that, be sure to try our yummy recipe of crunchy onion rings.

Extended Triangle Pose (Utthita Trikonasana)
 

Benefits:
-improves flexibility in feet, ankles, legs, spine, and hips
-tones and strengthens muscles of legs, hips, abdominal organs and heart
-strengthens legs, lower back and neck
-reduces waist line
-expands chest
-stretches arms, shoulders and back
-improves circulation to spinal area and pelvic region
-improves digestion and elimination
-opens pelvic region
-relieves anxiety and nervous tension
-relieves sciatica


Instructions:

1. Stand with feet as far apart as comfortable, legs straight, arms out ĎTí
2. Pivot on right foot. Pull shoulders down
3. Inhaling, shifting hips to the left, lean toward right foot
4. Exhale, sliding hand down right leg, keeping hips forward. Left hand reaches upward. Look up into palm of left hand. Left hand may also be held parallel to floor beside ear. Hold
5. Inhale, exhale slide right hand up right leg to come back to upright position
6. Repeat on opposite side

 3 Flexibility Yoga Secrets

Thereís much more to yoga than flexibility, but thatís easy to say when you can sit in full lotus for an hour without moving, do a backbend with straight arms, and bind your wrist behind your back in Marichiyasana D.

Baked Onion Rings
(serves 4)
View Original Recipe www.vegetariantimes.com


Crunchy on the outside, tender and sweet on the inside, these battered and baked onion rings have a fraction of the calories of their deep-fried cousins.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ĺ tsp. salt, divided
  • ĺ cup tonic water
  • 1 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 1 Tbs. vegetable oil
  • 2 medium sweet onions, cut into Ĺ-inch-thick slices


Preparation

1. Coat baking sheet with cooking spray. Whisk together flour and 1/2 tsp. salt in bowl. Whisk in tonic water, adding more, if necessary, to make pancake-like batter.

2. Combine breadcrumbs, oil, and remaining 1/4 tsp. salt in shallow bowl.

3. Separate onions into rings. Dip each onion ring into batter, shaking off excess, then dip into breadcrumbs, coating completely. Place on prepared baking sheet, then place baking sheet in freezer 20 minutes to set batter on rings.

4. Preheat oven to 450įF. Bake onion rings 7 to 10 minutes, or until they begin to brown on bottoms. Flip, and bake 7 to 10 minutes more, or until golden. Season with salt, if desired.

  • Protein: 8 g
  • Total Fat: 5 g

  • Carbohydrates: 60 g
