Summer classes are ready to start!  We hope you'll be joining us.  Although we pare down what we offer during July and August, there are still lots for you to choose from.  Baby classes will start again in the Fall, but we still have Pilates and an abundance of Yoga classes to suit your needs.  Check it out at www.intoyoga.ca/classes.

For the summer months only, there is a time change for Yoga for Weight Loss at Champlain Heights.  Setareh is away and Tamara will be teaching it from 7:00pm - 8:00pm.

If you find yourself lacking the summer off, and instead, strapped to your office chair, this issue will introduce you to some desk Yoga.  Or get a little more creative and be a bird on the floor.

Although calcium rich foods are often high in calories, it's important we find ways to attain an adequate amount.  Did you know that if we don't get enough, our body will start pulling it from our bones?

What's a great summer dish?  Anything with fresh fruit, I'd say.  So check out the delicious treat we found for breakfast OR dessert.

Got a wee one?  Here's one mom's take on sleep, food, vaccines and more.

We're looking forward to seeing you over the summer.  Please take a moment to register for classes.  Early registration helps to eliminate disappointment of full or canceled classes.  Visit our website www.intoyoga.ca often for updates.

Easily Meet Daily Calcium Needs

Good dietary sources of calcium include dairy products such as milk, yogurt, and cheese in addition to spinach, kale, and calcium-fortified foods like orange juice and cereals. Unfortunately most people shy away from calcium-rich foods due to high calorie content, or they donít know how much to eat to obtain adequate calcium intake. In fact, two out of five people in the U.S. donít meet recommendations for calcium (1).

Getting enough is critical because calcium is considered an essential mineral, meaning our bodies donít make it. This requires we get calcium daily through our dietóotherwise the body will start to pull from bone stores. While this isnít a problem in the short term, it can become one in the long term, as it can lead to low bone mass (osteopenia) and increased risk of bone fractures.

Babies, Belly Buttons, and Breast Milk
www.foodmatters.tv

It truly is a miracle how a baby is sustained through an umbilical cord connected to an embryonic sac which filters and delivers nutrients from mother to baby. The umbilical cord is a profound piece of equipment that we should all treat with the utmost honor respect and yet in most hospitals the umbilical cord is the first thing that is severed when the baby comes out. If only we waited at least 90 seconds, if not longer, as per the recommendations of Dr Green, who shows that health and immunity can be greatly improved by allowing the 600 ml or so of oxygen-rich blood still in the placenta at birth to flow to the baby. Hence less ear infections, sickness & hospital time for baby.

This one simple procedure alone could save us millions in health care and nursery illness! But enough about belly buttons; letís move on. To continue reading, click here.
