Happy New Year!

I hope you enjoyed a safe, happy holiday season. 

Many of you may have new year resolutions to get your body healthier or simply just have some "me" time.  We're offering many classes that can give you what you're looking for.

We're offering some brand new classes this month, including Chair Yoga.  If a regular Yoga class just isn't the right fit for you, or you simply want to learn some technique to do at work, this could be the perfect choice for you.  Visit our classes page and you'll see Chair Yoga listed at Hastings Community Center.

Mark Feb 18, 19 & 20, 2012 on your calendar for the 20th Annual Wellness Show being held in the Vancouver Convention Center.  Once again, we'll be feature Isagenix.  Watch for our February newsletter with more information and perhaps a surprise or two!

Awhile back, I introduced my readers to a company called Fit Deck Using a series of special playing cards, very reasonably priced, you can set and design your own workout from Yoga to Pilates to Fitness to Sports and much more.  Each card represents about a minute of activity. Fit Deck has since introduced many new modalities and I thought it was time to bring your attention to them again.  Decide how much time you have, pick your cards, and have fun!  Check out their website at www.FitDeck.com.

Cat Cow in a Chair

Chair yoga adapts traditional yoga poses so that they can be done with a chair for support, making yoga more accessible for people who cannot stand for long periods. This sequence of chair poses can be used for home practice.

Chair Cat-Cow Stretch

Come to sit on a chair with the spine long and both feet planted flat on the floor.

On an inhale, arch your back and drop your shoulders. This is cow position.

On an exhale, round your spine, letting the shoulder and head come forward. This is cat position.

Continue moving between cow on the inhalations and cat on the exhalations for five breaths.
