Wow, the holidays are almost here!  Another year come and gone.


Most of our 2011 classes are completed or finish up in the next week or two.  But we've got lots in store for January 2012.  Be sure to check our schedule at www.intoyoga.ca/classes.htm.  

Don't forget to register for our classes early.  This ensures that classes are not canceled prematurely and that the class is not full when you call.  We had great registration in many of of Fall classes, thanks to many people registering early.

If you're ready to start the new year with a healthy nutrition plan, consider trying one of our nutritional cleanse packs.  Whether it's weight you want to release, an increase in energy, sleep better, or simply just to feel the healthiest possible, we've got a pack to fit your needs and lifestyle.  Contact info@intoyoga.ca for more information.

I am looking for someone who has good recreational artistry skills.  Do you know someone who can draw simple sketches?  I'd like to find someone who can draw simple pictures to upgrade my Baby Sign Language handbook.  Please have them contact me at info@intoyoga.ca.

I am also looking for someone who can teach Baby Sign Language.  Fluency is not required, however a basic knowledge and adequate vocabulary of American Sign Language is necessary.  Some training would be provided.  If you know anyone who fits this description, please have them contact me at info@intoyoga.ca.

How to Avoid Eating too Much During the Holidays

Another reason to think about nutritional cleansing.....

Did you know that eating just one extra cookie every day during the holiday season could cause you to gain one pound? That may not sound like much, but 10 years from now you would weigh ten pounds more than you do right now -- that is, if you keep the rest of your diet the same, and that is asking a lot during the holiday season. Many people gain four to five pounds this time of year because of the temptation of delicious treats and extravagant dinners.

The holiday season is a time filled with parties, family gatherings and lots of food, but with a little help, you can keep from eating too much during the holidays. Continue reading....

Signing Babies

What a joy it is to be able to communicate with your baby before they can verbalize what it is they want!  Leaning sign language and teaching your child, can help you relieve much of the frustration for both you and your baby.  Here's a few videos where you can see babies using their signs.  If you've got your own, send them in to me! 






Orange-Date Oat Bars (16 Servings)

These bars will satisfy your sweet tooth without sending you on a sugar high.


  • 1/2 cup orange juice

  • 1 1/3 cups chopped dates

  • 1 Tbs. grated orange zest

  • 2 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon

  • 1 1/3 cups old-fashioned rolled oats

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup packed dark brown sugar

  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda

  • 1/2 tsp. salt

  • 3/4 cup nonhydrogenated vegetable shortening

  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans



1. Preheat oven to 350F. Spray 9-inch baking dish with nonstick spray.

2. Simmer juice, dates, zest, 1/2 tsp. cinnamon and 1 cup water 15 minutes over medium heat, or until thickened.

3. Pulse oats, flour, sugar, baking soda, salt and remaining cinnamon several times in food processor. Add shortening, and blend until combined.

4. Press half oat mixture in prepared pan. Top with date mixture. Add pecans to remaining oat mixture. Press on top.

5. Bake 50 minutes, or until top is golden brown. Cool, and cut into bars.

Nutritional Information Per 1/2 Cup Serving

Calories 201.2; Fat 7.5 g; Saturated Fat 2.9 g (39.9% of calories from fat); Protein 3.6 g; Carbohydrate 31.6 g; Cholesterol 58 mg; Fiber 1.4 g
