October 2008 - Issue 22

Lots of activities and invites this month!  We hope many of them will appeal to you.

We've had a very good turn out for most of our classes and we will be starting some other classes later this month.  Remember to check our website at www.intoyoga.ca/classes.htm to find them.  Family Yoga at Greentree Village begins Oct 22 too!  Spaces are being held, but payments are needed to confirm your space.

When registering for classes, I strongly suggest you register early.  We had a few classes canceled last session only to have people call at the last minute wanting to register.  By then it was too late.  I dislike disappointing anyone, so please, when you register for a class, send your payment in right away.

October is a very busy month.

Oh yes, and HAPPY HALLOWE'EN!  Keep safe!

3)    Health Presentation

On Wednesday Oct 15, come find out how to heal your body with nutritional cleansing. Enjoy an evening with a man who, six years ago, at the age of 74 wanted something better in life.  Learn how he's maintained his health and humor, and became the number one leader of his company.

If your life is plagued physically or financially, you will want to hear what this man has to say.  This free event is open to everyone and will be held at the Hilton Vancouver Metrotown in Burnaby (6083 McKay Avenue) from 7-9pm.  This information needs to be heard by everyone.

The foods we eat, the air we breathe and the water we drink and bath in, are full of chemicals, pesticides and other poisons. Our soils are depleted of nutrients.  It is feared that we will be the first generation that will out live our children.  Come find out what you can do to take control of your health, and earn a healthy income (optional) doing it.

Please RSVP at 604-421-9872 or email me at info@intoyoga.ca to save a space for you.  What have you got to lose?

If you like what he shares with you and want to be part of it, please contact me so I can get you started with a wholesale account.

8)    Try this Pose

Hip Walk

This is always a fun one to do.  It's amazing how much it really tones up the abs, while it firms the buttocks and the legs.  And the cardio work out is great!

1.    Sit with legs outstretched, arms at sides

2.    Bending your arms, tucking your elbows at your sides, hands in front and fisted, as though you were running.

3.    Using a swinging motion of the arms, propel your body forward by slightly bending your knees and alternately lifting your buttock from the floor and moving the hip forward.

4.    Now go in reverse.

5.    Try doing this with your arms crossed instead of at your sides.

Please note: Practice at your own risk.

9)    Recipe
Pumpkin-Hazelnut Tea Cake (12 slices)
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/healthy-recipes/NU00333

Ingredient List

3 tablespoons canola oil
3/4 cup homemade or canned pumpkin puree
1/2 cup honey
3 tablespoons firmly packed brown sugar
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1 cup whole-wheat (whole-meal) flour
1/2 cup all-purpose (plain) flour
2 tablespoons flaxseed
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons chopped hazelnuts (filberts)

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 F. Lightly coat an 8-by-4-inch loaf pan with cooking spray.

In a large bowl, using an electric mixer on low speed, beat together the canola oil, pumpkin puree, honey, brown sugar and eggs until well blended.

In a small bowl, whisk together the flours, flaxseed, baking powder, allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and salt. Add the flour mixture to the pumpkin mixture and, using the electric mixer on medium speed, beat until well blended.

Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle the hazelnuts evenly over the top and press down gently to lodge the nuts into the batter. Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean, about 50 to 55 minutes. Let cool in the pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Turn the loaf out of the pan onto the rack and let cool completely. Cut into 12 slices to serve.

Meditation knows nothing of distraction. That's its grace, its beauty, its grandeur: nothing can disturb it. If your meditation can be disturbed that simply means that you are concentrating and have not yet tasted meditation. Osho ©© Osho International
