I'm sending this a little early because I will be enjoying the hot sun in Las Vegas come August 1. 

I hope you're enjoying your summer!  It took awhile to get here, but it's been worth the wait.  This is my favorite time of year.  I love the sun and and warmth.  Today is raining, but I know our summer will be back!

3)    Try this Pose

Forehead to Heel Stretch
 

Also known as the Clam, this posture helps to tone and strengthen the nervous system, while it improves digestion.  Upper backache and tension is relieved as the flexibility in the spine is improved.  The inner thighs receive a marvelous stretch and the hip and knee joints become more limber.

1. Sit erect, legs outstretched, arms at sides.
2. Inhale, bend knees and pull soles of feet together. Grasp toes.
3. Exhale, pulling up on feet and gently pressing knees to floor try to bring forearms down to floor.
4. Bring forehead down toward feet..
5. Inhale, exhale, release

- NOTE - The above exercise may be performed separately or as a set

6)    Yoga Month 09.2008

Yoga Month 09.2008 is a national awareness campaign to inspire a healthy lifestyle. The core of the Yoga Month campaign is a 10 City Yoga Health Festival Tour that will take place during the month of September in cities throughout the US and Canada.  Yoga Month 09.2008 is supported by national magazines like Yoga Journal, Whole Life Times, Yoga Mates, Newsweek, and Health Magazine.  Shiva Rea, Seane Corn, Bryan Kest, Mariel Hemingway, and other yoga powerhouses will celebrate Yoga Month by participating in the tour.  All proceeds from the 10 City Yoga Health Festival Tour will benefit Youth Health Alliance, a nonprofit organization that provides FREE enrichment, recreational, and academic programs to at-risk youth.

Swedish Nut Bars (12 servings)

Ingredient List

6 eggs
1 1/2 cups white sugar
3 1/2 cups finely ground almonds
3 tsps almond extract

Directions

  1. Pre-heat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Prepare a 9 x 9 x 2 inch baking pan by lining bottom with either waxed paper or parchment paper. Grease the paper.

  2. Separate the eggs and reserve the whites. Beat egg yolks until thick and tripled in volume. Add sugar slowly, beating until very thick. Slowly fold in nuts and extract. Beat egg whites until stiff but not dry. Fold them into the yolk mixture. Pour batter into prepared pan.

  3. Bake for one hour or until done. Cool in pan for 10 minutes then turn out and remove paper. Cool completely. Cut as needed.
